Amazing
Woman Amazing World 2003
a movement to inspire self-honor, action and unity
brings together a global community on March 8, 2003
WHAT:
With the participation of Our Voice Foundation, local, national and
international organizations, Amazing Woman Amazing World 2003 represents the coming
together of the private, public, and nonprofit sector in communities throughout the world.Amazing
Woman Amazing World Day is a celebration of the energy of women everywhere and an
opportunity to recognize the contributions they make in their communities everyday.
A Congressional
Proclamation recognizes Amazing Woman Amazing World Day as a nationwide movement of
inspiration celebrated annually throughout the United States; and, recognizes the day as
one on which all women everywhere are encouraged to honor their own strength, courage and
purpose. The Amazing Woman Amazing World movement was first established in
March 2001.
Our Voice
Foundation, founders of the day, is dedicated to promoting community activism,
volunteerism and empowerment among women, youth and their families. Community
outreach, mentorship and professional development programs enable advocacy of self-honor,
dignity and respect among all people. Our Voice is designated a 501c3
organization by the Internal Revenue Service.
As part of the
March 8 celebration, Our Voice Foundation launches Scream for Esteem, an
initiative to defy the problems of substandard housing and its effects on the health and
well-being of children. A series of multi-media productions, special events and
activities supports fundraising efforts to support the initiative.
WHO:
Women, youth and their families attend events and activities that range from yoga and
fitness demonstrations for women, youth and their families; to outdoor hikes of
inspiration and honor; to women-in-prison self expression workshops; to professional life
and career coach symposiums; to seminars and documentary screenings that celebrate the
joys and memories of motherhood.
